Dupioni Silk
There are many grades of Dupion Silk. One quality (which is the only one I carry) is called "Shantung". It is smooth, almost tissue thin, and drapes and sews beautifully. The colors are vibrant and true. It is very close to a silk taffeta quality, HOWEVER - be warned. Dupion Silk ravels easily but is easily made ready to sew by simply sewing a very loose zig zag stitch around MOST edges (mainly across the selvedge). It is 45" wide.
Silk can be washed CAREFULLY. To keep it's original look dip in cold soapy water by hand. Rinse in clear water the same way and let drip dry on a plastic hanger. It you should wash it in the washing machine it will come out fine but the finish of the silk will look different. Drip dry (don't let it spin). Press with an iron set on silk or wool.

is imported from ITALY is one of the most exciting fabrics I have yet found.
It is permanent finish and EEEZZZZ sewing.
