The
Carroll County Master Gardener Program is sponsored by the University of
Illinois Extension. One of the
goals of this program is to provide unbiased, researched based information to the
public through the regional Help Desks and demonstrations and lectures, such as
those available today. Besides
providing information we also help with planting and maintaining public gardens.
One of our projects in 2005 is a community “Plant a Row for the
Hungry” vegetable garden in Mt. Carroll.
Some
of the funds from last years “A Walk in the Garden” were used to build a
large permanent flower bed in Savanna on the corner of Chicago Avenue and Main
Street. Three large planters and
the built in planter in front of city hall were also filled to the brim with
flowers. Two pots of flowers were
also donated to the Chamber of Commerce train car.

For
the last several years we have also planted and maintained two small gardens at
the Miles Museum in Mt. Carroll and planted some planters for Mayfest at the
Campbell Center in Mt. Carroll.
Thank
you for any donations given to the Master Gardener Program.
Also anyone interested in becoming involved in the program can contact
the Extension office in Mt. Carroll.
